ORIGIN

The Photograph mechanically repeats what could never be repeated existentially.

BINAIR

2015

Binair converts a 3D scan of a body into a binary code composed of only zeros and ones, through a customized computer program. The code consists of more than 180 million characters. A full encoding takes about 44 hours to complete.

EVENBEELD

2006

Evenbeeld is a three-dimensional representation of the human body, developed by means of body scanning. When a living thing is ‘captured’ in this way, it is reduced to a soulless object, a still life. As a self portrait, Evenbeeld elicits questions about identification but also ownership; in exchange for the use of the scanning technology, the artist permits her digital, 3D image to be used in the video game industry.
